Red face Check engine light

i have a 2002 dakota 4x4 single cab with the 3.9. The check engine light came on and i took it to autozone and its the evap system again. This is the second time its happened. Could be fuel cap, evap canister, hose cracked, purge or vent solenoid. has anyone else had this same issue? thanks

Check the eva canister under the driver's side of the truck. Check all the rubber hoses there and in the engine compartment for breaks or cracks. The hoses especially under the truck are known to crack and split open and throw that code.

but if you think your gas cap doesn't seem right that could be the cheapest easiest place to start!

i had the same problem, it was the canister. btw next time u get a light you can check the code yourself by turning the key from off to on 3 times and on the third time leave it in on position and a code should show up on the odometer, then hop on DF and check the stickies to see the code. that way you wont have to drive all the way up to auto zone, saving your self some gas and possibly from damaging your truck.

yea + 1 on the code check.
i had a medium evap leak and a new gas cap and computer reset fixed it.
gas cap can fix alot of evap codes and its cheap.

ok thanks everyone for the advice. I'm going to check all the hoses and the eva canister tomrrow, I'll let you know how it goes. Although the check engine light turned itself off yesterday. So it was only on for 2 days, my dad had me put a can of seafoam through the fuel tank and fill it up with premium gas and it's fixed it both times. This was the second time it happened. I know it had to be the seafoam because i had a quater tank when i put it in and after i filled it up i had 3/4 of a tank when it turned off.
