Clicking Sound when Braking
Not too worried about this problem but everytime I hit the brakes on my truck I hear a clicking sound. I think it may be something to do with the ABS system being that I have 4 wheel disc brakes. I was just wondering if this is normal, as well as if anyone else is having this issue with their Dak's? Thanks in advance for your responses.
The '89 we just bought tries to throw us through the windshield everytime we apply the brakes. As I am in the middle of trying to resore it, one of the plans I have is to find out why the brakes are so touchy. It doesn't appear there is a subtle way to apply the brakes, as if you even brush the pedal it throws you forward in the seat. I have noticed there is a sound but I can't describe it.
Clicking sound in the brakes is generally caused by the rotors being warped. I have seen a couple worst case cenarios where they let it go so long it actually wore out the hanger for the caliper.
Mine does that only when firm breaking. It has done it since day one and I also thought it had to do with abs kicking in lightly. I have 4wheel disks and just 2w abs. I do not think the rotors are warped on mine... the brakes components are still working great and pads are thick at over 27k miles. I was worried about the brakes when i bought this truck, but I guess they redesigned them in 03'.
