Ball joints on dodge dakota
I posted this thead some time ago about replacing ball joints. The best way, seems to me,is to use a grinder and cross hatch the heads of the rivits and take a chisel or power drill to knock off the heads of the rivits. One question I had-The replacement joints are bolted into the spindle with regular nuts and no cotter key. What is to keep these nuts from coming off the ends of the joints-well,you get the picture.Does anyone have any input? Thanks.guysI dont know what dodge would charge for this job....
Using the grinder I think is the easiest way to get the old ones off and keeping the old ones on I would just use red loctite once it dries its pretty much impossible to get off with out heating it up
I replaced the ball joints on my Dakota, and 4000+ miles later there are no problems. I did use the red locktite, but as a safety precaution I have the tire store check them every time I rotate the tires. I haven't been charged for them checking, I just asked the tech to look at them.
