Default Non-Dak ? for any mechanics who will lend an ear..

As well as my 03 dak i own i also own a 06 cobalt.. sad to say its the wifes car... anyways.. she just noticed a whine coming from well we thing front left of her car sounds like a weed eater motor at 30mph on up..tires are fine no nails or issues that we can see you dont hear the loud whine until you roll up windows..no body obstructions on car its a 2006 cobalt LS..ifi put car in neutral the sound is still there i first thought fan.. but soound isnt there when engine is at idle. and once i get to 30mph its getting louder at 55 its quite annoying.. any ideas what would cause this the car has 68k miles on it ..

thanks and i appreciate it since its a non dodge product..

When you say "put it in neutral" do you mean while rolling down the road or when parked?

If it does it based on the car moving, whether in gear or not, I would guess its a wheel bearing.

That's because it isn't a dak.

If it's not a wheel bearing ( I think it is ) you could possibly swap the front tires (left to right right to left) and see if the sound moves.

twas a left side wheel bearing.. thank god for extended warranties.. saved me 600 bucks.. at dealer.. ended up costing me nothing.. funny though ran into my old service manager from the dodge dealership i bought my dakota from that went out of business yrs ago.. he ended up doing some other work for me that was on my wifes to do list for her car for fraction of cost it would have normally cost.. so kudos to him...

thanks for your replies for this non dakota issue..
