So I've become interested in buying a 1998 dakota. It's single cab. with 289,000kms or 180,000 miles. The price tag is 2,500 dollars. To get it saftied would be 400-600 dollars. But, I'm going try and bargin with them. It's my first viehcle and I really did like this truck. My mechanic it was in decent shape, just need some tlc. It has very little body rust. The inside is in good shape.. For a 98 the body looks good I'm only looking to get a most, 5 years out of it. I figure if I take care of it. What price should I offer them? I should will have no problem getting 5 years out of it. Now for you're opinion on it?

 

Depends how many miles do you expect to put on it in a years time and a truck with that many miles has some wear so make sure everything is gone over. You didnt say what all truck had engine size,auto or manual,power anything,4x4 or 4x2 so really its hard to tell I guess if it was fully loaded v8,auto power everything 4x4 then 2500 is a pretty good deal if its base like no power,v6 or 4cyl manual 4x2 then like 1,500. Its also hard to tell what to pay depending on what area you live in.

i know i paid $2800 for my base truck with 98k miles just a year ago, and that was the cheapest in my area by far.

 

Well i'd say 25,000 kms a year is pleny for me. The engine I believe is the V6 3.9 magium. It has no power locks or windows. It is auto transmission, it's also a 2X4. Yes I have looked else where. It is the cheapest in my area.
