Default Upshift Issues

A couple of weeks ago I jumped in my 99 RT (auto) and for some reason it now seems to shift into 2nd gear at about 2200 rpm. Before, it was more like 1500-1800 depending how hard I drove it. I recently had the vehicle speed sensor replaced (on differential) because it was shifting whenever it wanted to. I have now changed the speed sensor on the transmission but that didn't fix the problem. Fluid levels are good and pretty recent < 5000 miles ago. The truck has less than 80K and I am at a loss as to what to try next. Will the check engine lite "always" come on if there is a tranny problem? Any help would be appreciated.

Mike

P.S. Could anyone recommend a decent code reader for less than 100.00?

i had a shift problem simliar to yours. i put on a new trottle position sensor and it solved the problem. does yours unlock the converter at freeway speeds when it does not need to? thats how we first realized a problem was starting. then it started shifting funny during city driving. hope that helps.

I'll check and see if the TPS is causing issues, all I have to do now is find out what the voltages are suppose to be at different pedal settings. Thanks for the help............
