Default 2002 Dakota caliper removal

I have a 2002 Dakota 2WD. I need to replace one of the bearing assemblies. How do you remove the double S spring clip on the outside of the caliper assembly? Or does this not need to be removed? Any tips on bearing assembly removal? I just read the recent post for a 4WD but will the 2WD be much different besides not having the drive axle? Thanks.

It needs removed. Just stick a screwdriver in the end of it and wiggle the middle part out with another. Once you start prying with it, you can see how it will just pop out. The ends just wedge it in there, and it has little dents like that just hold it in place. Goes in a lot easier than coming out. It is tough steel, it wont bend at all much.

It DOES NOT! need to be removed, and yes it can bend, "trust me" $25 to replace, IF you can find a place that sells them without the entire caliper. If you take off the two big bolts on the back of the wheel housing, that removes the caliper and the brake pad bracket, the entire assembly will come off, the ANTI RATTLE clip does not need to be moved., before you remove it though, take you a good sized flat blade screw driver and force the piston back into the housing by sticking the screw driver in the edge of the rotor through the gap in the caliper bracket and applying pressure either way, dont worry you wont break it. It will make re assembly much easier. This way you cant bend the brackets and it will go alot faster.

I work at Midas, and specialize in brakes and exhaust. I do this every day.

Guess you dont...lol.
I had to pull it all off to get to my lower balljoints. It was easy, to take off. Just do a pry here and there. Must remove for pads to be replaced. It is a little harder to place back on the rotor without spreading them apart. I would just remove the clip. But sometimes I do things the hard way....

Im not trying to dog you bro was just trying to give him a couple shortcuts to make his DIY task a little simpler, after all, isnt what this whole forum is about? different opinions, methods, tips and tricks? I look at it like this. the first day where you say to yourself, you didnt learn anything new, is the day you can crawl into a whole and kiss the world goodbye.
