Default A/C Clutch not working

My A/C quit working, and after some trouble shooting, we determined the clutch on the front of the compressor is stuck. We tried connecting 12V directly to it, and nothing. With close to 300K, I don't want to spend the money to put in another compressor. Any one know if there is a way to maybe get them to start working again.

You can change the clutch without removing/discharging the compressor.

If the coil on the clutch is shot, it can't be fixed. Anyway, with 300K it's probably up for an AC clutch.

Is the clutch assembly bolted on, or pressed on. I had the compressor replaced with a rebuilt a year and a half ago, and everything was working a few months ago. Would I have to go to an A/C repair place, or do most auto parts stores carry clutches.

A-body, you did check the system for charge right? I had the same issue on my van and discovered I had a leak in the hose. No freon, no pressure, no A/C compressor kicking on.

As soon as I replaced the hose and recharged the system, the compressor came back to life. =)

We pretty much checked all that. I disconnected the connector to the dryer, and shorted the pins, which is the override to get it running if your system is empty. No luck there. We then directly added 12V to the clutch assy connector, and still nothing.
