my truck is a 2000 dakota with a 4.7l V8 and a standard transmission my transfercase is a np231 i was wanting to know if any were interchangeable transfercases or if anyone knows were i could get another one for a good price my junk yards are out of

Whats wrong with yours? They aren't hard at all to rebuild....

But the NP241D and NP242D should both be interchangeable. The 242 would be AWD though. And you don't have to limit yourself to 2000 dakotas, they put the np231 transfer case in the majority of dodge trucks for over a decade. Some of them may require you to change out parts, but it at least gives you more options.

 

its cracked i think its from the chain being stretched and riding on the bottom of the case
