Default Keyless entry beep

2004 QC

My keyless entry works, but it doesn't beep when I lock the doors no matter how many times I push the button on the key fob. Anyone know how to make it beep? Is it a setting or something or do I just have a non-beeping keyless entry system?

I think in the owner's manual it tells how to program the keyless so it honks the horn on lock and unlock. It won't beep unless there is some type of aftermarket security add-on to the keyless. I remember having to program the keyless in my 2000 Dakota, yours may be similar.

Figured it out- it was in the owners manual just like SilverCC said. Thanks for the tip.

OK, only about 85% of the 2nd gen daks came with the keyless entry that would beep...mine is in the 15% bracket... I learned that when i had a transponder alarm installed and had to keep the existing OEM remote for a month or so to be sure the truck wouldn't lock me out...the book will tell you how to program it, it will even beep in the dash to confirm settings, but no honk when arming...
