Default Help!!! Water in tranny (quick rsp)

K guys... Where is the drain plug on the 04 dakotas, i need to drain the tranny and add new Fluid Also, I've been driving around for about a week until i knew that there was water in my trans. Is it ruined?? I've asked a couple people and they said *CHANGE IT NOW*, *Your tranny is ruined* all that stuff.

So Is my transmission still savable? If so wheres the drainage plug to the trans!? I need to do this a.s.a.p.

Doubt it has a drain plug, drop the pan, change the filter. It would be too easy if there was a plug. You're supposed to always change filter with fluid to avoid cross contamination.

when you buy the filter it should come with a new pan gasket. depending on how much water is in it, it might be a good idea to do a fluid change every few hundred miles. If it is in the bottom of the tranny pan then it is in the convertor, etc. get some cheap fluid, do a fluid change, drive a few hundred miles, repeat process until you start changing it and see no water in the tranny fluid.

I Only relized yesterday because the trans must have became over heated and overflowed onto the truck.. steam etc.. Was also told i have a seal gone in my tranny seein' how fluid/water boiled out of the truck..

Note : for the Transmission to injest water, Water was well over the transmission. I guess getting into the vent line. Is it possible i have a seal gone like a buddie/mechainc told me?

It is quite possible, but the only real way to tell is to tear into the tranny and start rebuilding it
