Exclamation No power to the starter

The other day I tried to turn on the truck and it started to crank over but that stopped and wouldnt after that. It had worked fine earlier that morning, no problems. So I figured it was the started I replaced the starter, and still wouldn't crank over. I have checked the fuses, and battery. I was able to start the truck by putting jumper cables on the battery and starter and starting it like that. but as soon as I turn off the truck it won't start back up. So I am not getting power from my battery to my starter. What are the possibilities as to what is going on with this. I could only think of maybe the cable going from the battery to the starter. Does anyone else have any ideas?

I had a few issues with my starter/ignition. 1st one: you turn the key and nothing, try again at a different time and it starts. This problem has come twice in 120k miles for about a week at a time, i dont know if i ever fixed i but i remember I had to keep turning the key in the ignition from run to start over an over until I heard the starter kick over and and I got lucky enough to hold it till it fully cranked over.
2nd problem: All you would hear is a click, even with a new battery, starter and with a jump. weeks later... It turned out to be a bad connection on the ground from the battery to the engine, near the power steering pump. A starter draws a large load on the battery to initially crank over. Take off the terminal and use some sand paper to clean it and also the engine. I couldn' believe it was that simple.
