Default window issues

i have an 02 dakota sport. originally the front passenger window as well as the left rear window failed to work from their door switches. the master will raise and lower them. now the drivers window and the other two will go down but not up. you have to play with the switch a lot and then they may go up. once up they will go down but again not back up . when you try the left rear window control from the drivers console i think you can hear a clicking in the left door panel, so I'm not sure if the motors are acting up( kinda funny 3 at the same time going bad) or switches. anyone have the same issues or answers

Sounds like the switches on the doors are bad. You could remove each door panel and uplug the window motor, apply 12 volts and ground to the motor, then reverse the connections and see if the window operates in the opposite direction. If the window works OK up and down this way, your switches are bad. You could try some spray electrical contact cleaner on the internals of the switches and the wire harness plugs for the switches and the motors too.

If the windows still do not work right with an alternate power supply, the regulator/motor is bad. It's not very difficult to replace but Dodge only sells the motor and regulator as a single unit. They should cost about $80.00 to $120.00 each depending on where you live. You can try using aftermarket parts, Advance sells the Dorman brand which are supposed to be good but I don't know how well they work.

It's not uncommon for the switches to have problems, and bad window regulators are pretty common on Dodges too. One last test is when the window won't move, smack the door panel fairly hard in the flat area above the map pocket. If the window works after that, the motor is definitely bad.

I'd go the contact cleaner route first. Use a liberal amount of the contact cleaner (Vodka works just fine too) and quickly move the switches back and forth several times after each spraying. You will most likely need to spray and manipulate the switches several times before you hopefully get the contacts clean - assuming that's the problem. If the contact cleaning procedures fail the rest of the advise posted will get you a bit more familiar with your truck. Good luck

I'm having the same problem in my club cab with the passenger window I know its the switch but I never sit on the passenger side and the master switch on the driver side always works for it so it just gives me a lil more control over my wife and her wanting to have the window down when the air is on.

I followed my own advise and "vodka cleaned" my passenger side window switch. The switch now functions as designed plus I've added to my huge post count. Three and counting .

Thanks to all for the advice.
Bought a can of contact cleaner and after getting the switch panel off the door(breaking 3 clips) I found that all the door switches, door lock switch, window lockout switch etc were in one enclosed unit. Had to pry one side open and blasted the inside with cleaner moved the switches and blasted again things seem to be fine.switches feel stiffer and you can feel them making contact.
Thanks again
