Default Blower motor resistor fried cable clip

Ok, I have a 2001 quad cab, 176,000 miles. Replaced the blower motor resistor twice, and the last one got fried along with the connector clip to the harness it plugs into. Does anyone know if you can buy a replacement connector? I think i may have to look for a used harness and just cut that end off with about 6in of wire still attached and splice. any other ideas?

I am in southern cali.

Most likely in a junkyard. I will move this to the 2nd Generation Dakota Sub-forum.

I had the same thing happen to me about a month ago, I went to the dealer and they wanted $85 for the clip and wiring, and I went to the junkyard and got one for $14 and some change. With that being such a common problem with these trucks, I wouldn't buy a new one.

2001 - 2004 dakota and durango. I got mine for $5 at the U-pull-it. I just ripped it out and cut the wires as far up as I could get.

same thing happened to my wrangler a few years back..i just clipped the fried wires from the plug and soldered some small female spade connectors, the plugged them into the resistor(keeping them in the correct order of course)..worked like a charm..

Smile Same story here

I have gone through 2 resistors in my 02 Dakota 4x4. The second one fried the clip. I cut the clip off, crimped on some connecters and plugged them right into the resistor by turning the leads a bit. Solution: new resistor $12.00 at dealer. Connectors from home depot for $2.67.
