Thanks guys for all the responses, got my build sheet today. 24 hours after requested. It's 22 galllons.
I haven't driven the truck for about two years now. and my son who does never fills it up. What 18 year old has that kind on cash. To him a fill up is $20.
I do recommend getting the build sheet though, lots of good info. I thought the 31's where a add on by original owner.

You have the 22 gallon. The fuel pump module holds a half gallon or so inside it to cool the pump. This is in addition to what is in the tank below the sending unit arm when it reaches it's lower limit. (The crud at the bottom of the tank you don't want going to your injectors.) I'd say 19.75+ this extra your looking at 22 gallons.

I was 16 fillin up my tank at 4.00 a gal but that was very rare. I miss being able to fill my truck up for 25.00. also yes you could order the truck from the factory with 31's my truck came with them I dont know why they dont all come with that size I would never go any smaller.

Bingo
My best friend is a dodge mechanic and said the light comes on when there is right at 6 gallons, this helps keep the pump cool and does help keep any crud from getting sucked up.

guys don't trust that dang fuel light! I have a 3.9 V6 '99 Dakota with the 22 gallon tank, and have had the fuel light come on with 3 gallons left, and recently I had the fuel light come on 2 miles before I ran out of gas!
