Default Loud Cooling Fan?

Hi I'm new to the forums here and had a quick question.I was just wondering if anyone else's cooling fan sounds like a tornado because mine and my friends both sound like a 747 taking off. Also how hard would it be to put an electric fan on and how much would it cost.

is it like that 100% of the time? if so your clutch fan is seized and needs replacing. You can actually just take it off if you dont do too much off roading or inclined driving because the 2000+ dakotas have a electric fan and a clutch fan.

to remove your fan clutch take a c clamp and wedge it on the pully against the water pumpm and turn the nut on the fan towards the passenger side of the truck. It should come off easy.

Yep, mine howls like a banshee when I first start my truck or if I sit too long with the engine idling, like in a drive thru window. But it goes away after a few seconds of driving. Like Spencer said if yours is noisy all the time the fan clutch is locked up and needs to be replaced. If it is hard to turn by hand or won't turn by hand at all (like mine was) it's bad. I got a new one at Autozone for $60.00 and it howls worse than the factory one did. But only for a few seconds and then it quiets down.

yea its always loud when you first start your truck, are towing something, 4 wheeling, or just idling for a while. Ive also heard you can buy a less intense or lighter fan clutch from flex lite but i have yet to find it.

Hi everyone, I am new to the forum. I have a 2002 neon that makes a loud whirling sound. I suspect it to be coming from the radiator fan. The next two problems are: dash lights and gauges tend to flicker sometimes when driving the vehicle, also notice yesterday that tempreture gauge went pass halfway mark then after I shut the car off I heard the radiator steaming a little followed by bubbling sound from the coolant reserve. I took the car to a mechanic, who did a pressure test only to find a loose hose and reported no overheating Can anyone help? Am I missing something here?

My Mitsubishi raider which I was informed is essentially a dakota also sounds like the t rex in Jurassic park launching. Mind you she has 348,000 miles I do lots of across the country driving. Ive replaced the transmission and had the transfer case swapped twice. I.love my raider but i fear her time may be ending so any advice in keeping her going is much appreciated. Its new quirk is stalling out if I have to stop abruptly and sit for an extended period. Somehow it still powers up hills and blows down the road but god that fan is worrying
