I purchased a 1999 dodge dakota ext cab a few months ago. It had a factory 318, which some guy swapped for a 360 that came out of a dakota r/t. In a few weeks i will be ready to purchase some performance parts for the motor. However i am not very experienced (yet) on what many differences are between different products. Anyways, im looking to buy headers, cam, electric fan, after market performance pcm, and a cold air intake for the truck. I drive the truck daily and im just looking for a little more bottom end if and when the time comes to street race. Im not wanting to spend much more than $2.5k for all of it total. I will also be putting a flowmaster single in dual out on the truck if that affects purchasing decisions. Also im willing to sacrifice some gas mileage to achieve what i desire. I currently get 15mpg city (12mpg if i stomp it all the time) and 22mpg highway. Im willing to go as low as 8mpg city with normal driving but no lower if it can be helped.

Any ideas are welcome and if you need any more info let me know.

 

i am on the same page as you, but because it is your DD you have to be careful when changing so many parts. i did the electric fan (out of a crown vic works fantastic) Mopar M1 intake, MSD blaster coil pack, MSD wires, autolite plugs (these motors do NOT like expensive or platinum plugs) ported the throttle body, Cat delete. and next is exhaust, if yours truck is 4x4 you can NOT do long tubes. the name of the game is to just make everything more effecint if your going to be doing heads and cams and computers, you should just start with the 5.9 platform
