Could use some radiator help.
Hello all. I would like to ask you a question. I have a 2004 Dakota SLT QC with the 4.7L. I have noticed that my front crank seal has been leaking. I am going to replace it myself as it doesn't look real tough. My one concern is the radiator. It looks as though I dont HAVE to remove the radiator but I would like to remove the radiator to be on the safer side of not damaging the radiator. Does anyone know of a way to remove the radiator with out removing the a/c condenser. Looking at the truck planning my attack it appears that I may be able to remove the top brace covering the top of the radiator. Can this be done or does one of you know a better way with out removing the a/c condenser. Another reason for removing the radiator is to allow me enough room to use and impact to remove the crank pulley bolt. Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated

I'm pretty sure that the Haynes manual for our truck says that it can be done once the shroud/washer fluid/coolant reservoirs are removed. I'll check on it today. On that note, pick up a copy of one. It'll pay for itself in hassles and knowledge the very first time you use it!
I have the Chilton manual. Basically what it says to do is remove fan shroud. Disconnect all hoses and tranny lines going to radiator. Remove the two bolts that hold the radiator in place at the top and pull radiator out.
If I follow those directions in the manual I run into the issue of hitting the condenser for the a/c. As far as I can tell I am going to have to remove the fan shroud, mechanical fan, electric fan, top radiator brace. If i am correct i would be able to take it out on the engine side instead of pulling it out the front.
I appreciate your help.
