I've thought about that and then I need another 4" to 6" to install a hidden hitch behind that. That could probably be done and I would have to modify the cross member that holds the spare tire and probably give up storing the tire there.

You give me another idea and that is that maybe I could build a metal box around the damper thing, move it back a little as you suggest and then move it down far enough to weld a hitch receiver on top of the box. Then build the remaining hitch/damper box attachments to the frame. Hopefully this could be done wo/ dropping the damper down to low so it doesn't show below the roll pan.

I've also considered boxing in the frame in the area between the cab and the box. As noted before I think the whole damper thing is there because of a flimsy frame (gen 3's have a box frame). This area between the cab and the box isn't supported by the cab or the box so allows the max. deflection in a bending motion. Some time when your driving your QC set the mirror so you can sight down the side of the cab and box. When you hammer it the body and cab separate a little lifting the truck up at that point and then when you hit the brakes hard the truck dips down at that point. I'm also wondering if the frame can handle 400 to 450 HP at the wheels.

Anyway, before I start making any modifications I want to try and find someone who has done the roll pan, hidden hitch thing before I take off moding things. Because if it doesn't work I'll be really Pi@@#* for wasting all that time and money and wished I had sold the thing, bought a gen 3 and dropped a Hemi in it.

It doesn't appear that those watching this thread have tried this so I'm also wondering if anyone knows any resources I could call to see if anyone else has had any experience with this. Maybe a custom frame shop or custom rod shop, etc.

I surely appreciate all you folks have contributed and hopefully I'll find someone who's done this.
