Default not starting

So trucks been fine until I got home from work yesterday. It sat for half hour then my wife went to hop in to take our son to swim class.
All of a sudden it wont start. Itll turn over and get gas for about 3 seconds then just die.

Im thinking fuel pump as Ive changed about 3 on previous vehicles already. Or could it be the alternator? I have a huge stereo, 1000w inverter, electric fan etc, on a stock alt.

any ideas before I start ripping aprt the wrong things. At least with the 3" life I think I can get at the fuel pump without dropping the tank

Turns out to be the fuel pump. It was turning over just fine but dry. I took a rubber mallet to the gas tank and she fired right up. So now I'm on the hunt for a cheap pump. I'll do the filter as well

I put an Airtex fuel pump on my Dakota back in January. $225.00 at Advance. Buy it online and you may find a discount code on it. I saved 20% buying on the Advance website, so it cost me about $180.00. It was a fairly easy job and has been working fine ever since. And the filter is an internal part of the pump assembly.
