2003 dakota 3.9 head gasket
Hi... new here.... I have a 2003 dakota that is in need of a new head gasket. I am seriously considering trying to do it myself... I am not a mechanic, but I have a haynes manuel and some common sense. Any tips anyone?
It's not too hard, just take your time and have all of the tools before-hand. A nice table or bench top is nice so all of the parts you pull don't end up on the floor. I replaced both heads in around 6 hours with lots of breaks and explaining "Why?" to my 5yo nephew (which I thoroughly enjoyed
)
Good luck and don't let it intimidate you when all of the accessories are off. I recommend taking pics as you go for reference, Haynes is not really clear on some things you will need to put back together. Have fun!!!

Take lots of pics just as a insurance policy its always a good habit if your not familiar with the process. but Its not to big of a job your manual should be pretty good at getting you threw it.
