Default bad acceleration and shaking Help!

I purchased a used '02 Dakota about 3 weeks ago. It has 151k miles on it. about a week after i bought it the check engine light came on. the first reason was that my father was looking at the spark plugs and switched #1 and #3 wires. i fixed that real fast. afterwards i replaced all plugs and wires along with a new distributer cap and wires, that turned the light off for about 3 miles. now when i accelerate the truck wont move. The accelerator is all the way down, and it wont go over 10mph. also the truck shakes really bad. the only problem with this is that it doesn't happen all the time, but the light stays on. can anybody give me suggestions to what is going on?

You'll probably want to check your fuel filter, pump and pressure...
Do yet get any back pressure? check catalytic converter(s)
