Default Tailgate Gate Keeper - Anyone used?

I was wondering if anyone had used the Gate Keeper. I'm aware of the $.49 hose clamp trick, I don't want to do that.

(Product page, nothing is for sale on it)

My question, I've found 0 reviews from people who have actually used this on a Dakota. The page for the product above, does not actually show the product. It shows 2 different unknown vehicles with 2 different "gate keepers" on it. One appears to be thin and leaves the bolt exposed, one is very thick and covers the bolt.

One of these products would be sufficent, while the other looks like thin junk. I can't tell which one is for a Dodge Dakota. I don't want to spend $27 on a piece of metal the thickness of a soda can.

Anyone used this? Can you say which product it is (the thick one on the red truck or the thin one on the silver truck?)
