Default truck cd player head Unit problem

I have the stock Head Unit and for some reason only the radio wants to work. Every now and then the cd player will want to play the cd. other wise whenever i try to play a cd it says err. So i am thinking maybe the lens on the reader is burnt out. or is this a common problem. I checked th cds and they are not scratched at all. what do you think the problem is. I might go get a new one. what should i get my budget is 250-300 dollars

i had the same problem but i found out that if i put the cd in closer to the right side of the slot it would work fine. and with 300 bucks your could get a really nice hu. i spent 120 on my new one and its really good.

you can buy a jvc deck at walmart w/ a ipod jack for like 40.00 bucks at wal mart. Its a pretty good replacement for the stocker HU, unless you have the Infinity system =P
