Default 2000 Dakota AC

I put a new ac compressor on my dakota.It will not accept any of the R134a refrigerant nor will the compressor kick on.We did hot wire it to see if it would kick on .It did.Could it be ca relay switch or something eles?please help.

I'm no AC guy - but the compressor will not kick on if there is no freon in the system. Its a safety switch type thing. I think regular AC shops can put the freon in under pressure so that some is in there instead of relying for the compressor to draw it in.

You may be able to hot wire it like you tested - but for my $$ I'd just go have it charged by a pro.

Reason I was doing it myself was to save money.Wonder how much they'll charge to charge it.
