Default Overhead console install Dim display

Hi, I installed an overhead console in my 98 Dakota a couple of months ago. When I first tested it I did not turn on the headlights (have daytime running lights). Everything checked out. So I left it.

I had used the wiring diagram I got with the harness I purchased from Crus Chesterfield on Ebay. But of course I threw it away when I thought everything was good.

Now when I turn on the headlight switch the display dims to the point of unreadability during the day. Did I wire something wrong? Anyone else had this problem?

did you try adjusting the the **** for the light intensity beside the headlight switch? i knows its basic just makin sure. it should dim when your headlights are on to what that **** is set for though...i have mine all the way up and i would say when i flip on my headlights it goes to about 60-65% of what it is without the lights on then if i turn that **** the whole way down i can barely see it.

Yeah, that's the first thing I thought of. It is on as high as it will go, if I dim it anymore it pretty much goes black.
