Default Coolant leak

98 Dakota / 4.3 / @ 150k

My buddies Dakota developed a colant leak. We replaced the water pump gasket, and the water pump looked ok.
The leak still persists from somewhere near the front of the engine, but not sure where it's coming from. In addition, the coolant doesn't seem to be circulating properly, as there is no hot air and engine smells like it's overheating. The temp guage shows hot, but not getting into the red.

Most likely the water pump? What else would cause the coolent to not circualate. If it was just a leak, then you should have heat and circulation until you lost enough coolant, right?

Any help's appreciated, thanks.

The leak is most likely from the weap hole on the water pump. if the water pump starts to not function correctly it will build up heat and no circulate the coolent in the motor correctly causing a leak at the weap hole. just replace the WP.
