No Heat/AC compressor engaged

No Heat/AC compressor engaged
When I turn on the heat (2000 Dodge 3.7L Dakota 53K), all I get is cold air. Upon futher inspection-both hoses going to the heater core are hot to the touch, but I found the A/C compressor engaged. I unplugged the compressor and the heat works great. Is there some type of switch staying engaged causing the A/C to stay on?
Thanks,

Hey Moparstone
I have the same truck (im assuming urs is a 3.9L) with the same problem.
Ive been trying to remedy this issue for two seasons now with no success. Im wondering if the switch contacts behind the dashboard are buggered up. I was thinkin of just pulling the connector to the compressor for the cold season....but i dont want it to sieze up (the compressor cycles once or twice per minute to keep all parts free and moving properly) Let me know if you come to any conclusions for this problem...and ill do the same for you.
Take Care!!
