Default new owner w/ questions

hey guys i just recently got a dakota and already have posted in the new member section. after i searched i came up with nothing. my truck does have a few issues but the one im most concerned with is the parking brake being stuck to the floor with the brake light showing on the dash. ive tried using the parking brake release and pulling the pedal with my hand. anyone have a direction to go from here?

EDIT: mods please move to 2nd gen forum

Problem fixed temporarily. I pulled the release and brake simultaniously and they released. Anyone have an idea as to what's going on?

I would trace the cable to see if its kinked anywheres, it runs all the way back to the rear shoes

I think there is a spring powered return in the parking brake pedal unit. Ive never actually looked at mine which is odd considering how much time i spend under my dash but most trucks have a spring return on the top of the pedal
