Default '97 automatic problem

So I went and started my 1997 v6 Dakota yesterday and it drove fine. Stopped by home got back in and going up a hill it stopped. Started up put it in drive pushed the gas and it didnt move any. Put it in reverse and it didnt go any where. I waited a little turned it on and went back home to get it in a safe place and going up a hill it did the same thing. I figured it could be a clogged tranny filter so I put a new one in and it ran fine. Then I let it sit for a while and it did the samething again. Any suggestions on what this could be?

Possibly the bands need adjustment. Or you just need a rebuild. Check this page. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/1st-gen...agnostics.html
