Default Battery - Preferences

Howdy Howdy,

Happy Festivus! Hope everyone had a great holiday season.

I'm looking to get some opinions on everyone's choice of battery for their 2nd Gen.

The stock battery that Pearl has, is dying... and I need to give her a new one.

Anyone have suggestions? preferences... thoughts etc?

Thanks,

I have a cheap autozone battery in my truck now, but it was there when I bought it, but I prefer the Odyssey brand batteries. They are a little more expensive but I feel they are well worth it.

I got the Duralast Gold. That was about 3 years ago...haven't had a problem, and it has a better cold start than the original one. Apparently Optimas are supposed to be good...but all the guys I know who have used them said they suck...died quickly. Coincidental enough, they were all used in their Dakotas, which is 3 right there.

I usually go with el cheapo's from wallmart. you can usually get a decent batt for 50/60 bucks and I've never had one let me down. there's even a guy localy that sells refurbs for 25. I've had a couple of those too but never kept the car for more than a year but they did ok. you may find someone close to you with the same. Interstate seems to be pretty good but they are pricey. if you get one from firestone or expert tire or something like that they usually have a decent service plan. I had a friend that used to work in a battery factory and he said that most of them are all made together and that the only difference is what sticker they put on them and which truck they left on.

+1 on Duralast Gold. I put one in my truck and one in my gf's Honda Accord back in July and they have been the best battery I have ever seen. They are great on cold starts, even after my truck or her car sit for a few days without being started. They have a 7 year pro-rated exchange warranty and a 3 year over the counter exchange warranty too. The one for my Dakota cost about $100.00. Hers was about the same price.

Wouldn't know because 10 years later and I still have the original factory battery in my RT. KNOCK ON WOOD!!!!

When it does give up the ghost, I'll replace it with the top of the line NAPA battery. I've always had excellent service out of those in the past.

Duralast is good or if you can swing it optima red top is very good. I have a mopar batt in my truck(Im guessing from dealer I dont know) but it has never let me down tho on those 0 degree days it is slower than normal. When this one goes im going to go with optima. Dont go with never start we had 2 in our jeep 1 died on us somehow wouldnt hold a charge and the other one barely made it threw the winter we now have a duralast in there and hasnt skipped a beat since we put it in.

Yea, the original is the one I'm replacing.

Twice this year it's died on me for no apparent reason. At any rate, of course she's running fine after the boost, but she was so dead this time I had to keep my foot on the pedal to keep the revs over 1000 while the charger was on the battery. 30 minutes and finally I was able to let her go and run on her own.

**KNOCK ON WOOD** yours lasts longer
