Default Trans slipping

I have a 99 Dakota Sport 4X4 with an automatic trans. When its cold it seems to shift fine in all gears. After it gets running temp it slips from second to third gear, any suggestions what could be going on?

How long has it been since the fluid has been changed?

The fluid was changed about 5000 miles ago, the truck has 123.000 miles powered by a 3.9.

You have the reverse of my problem. Workd good when warm, has a hard time going into 3rd when cold.

Have you adjusted the trans bands, per the manual?

Also, Lucas StopSlip does a good job when it comes to stuff you an pour in and it does what's claimed. I've never been dissapionted with any Lucas product.

Update, Changed the fluid and filter again, adjusted the bands, made no differance, looks like rebuild time. One more question? Has anyone ever stuffed a 440 in a 99 Dakota? I have a low mileage 440 with trans, now that would kick a$$.
