Default 03 Dakota Trans Whine

I just bought a 2003 Dakota SLT 2wd extra cab. It has 80,000 miles and a 3.9 6 cyl. Had trans fluid and filter changed but I notice a whine from about 1500rpm to 1900rpm...Sounds like a whine that would come from stereo speakers if they were not grounded right. Truck runs and shifts great...Any ideas? Thanks

mine does the same thing. its a 3.9 v6 02 though, and it had the tranny replcaed at 90k by last owner and now it's got 120k and i just bought it and it's got aftermarket deck, speakers in doors, and amps for speakers, and subs so i don't know what the problem is.

Turn your sorce to something other than playing music.. like if it has aux or something.. turn the volume up..and listen for the whine.. if its coming from the speakers then you have a poor ground somewhere either at the deck, one of its wires.. or something is grounding out to the radio, speaker it self or something like that..

Typically those whines are ground issues with stereo's, amps, ... speaker wire from an amp to the speaker.. or main problem the RCA's running to close to power wires..

BUt mostly is a ground problem somewhere..
