new to the forum and have a few questions
hey guys i have read alot of the threads and got some great info.i have a 2001 club cab 4wd 4.7. i need to put new shocks on the front and i probably will go with the rancho rs5000's because they are easy to get from advance auto , i have heard about bolts shearing and other things i was just wondering if there were any tips out there for me i am not experianced in suspension work, also i am thinking about a cold air intake but cant find anything cheap for the 4.7 like the other models any ideas welcome thanks again
I found when it comes to shearing off those shock bolts, it's only when you got the Torsion bars jacked up. It puts alot of pressure on those bolts when on Rough/bumpy roads.
AS for CAI, Search it up. Tons of guys made their own!

thanks for the advice got my shocks today gonna put them on on sunday anybody know off hand the size of the bolts i need to replace? and i made a pretty decent intake out of 3in pvc and a nice k&n filter i got from a friend hope it works makes the truck sound awesome when i punch it. i will put some pics on here this weekend
I have had bolts shear with Ranchos. It is because the Rancho 5000s aren't made for the front of a truck without a 3" front suspension lift. I talked to Rancho, ordered from JCWhitney and couldn't for the life of me figure out how I was shearing bolts. Went to NAPA and bought Monroe's and all is good now. I would look into the 5000s more before you buy them, per Rancho themselves, they aren't made to fit a stock truck, you would need to get 9000s for the front and you could go 9000 or 5000 on the back.
As for the 4.7, just drop a K&N filter in your air box and you will probably be happy. Aside from that, other mods for the 4.7 that are fairly simple include changing your intake to a newer model (2008+) with better flow. But really, the best bang for your buck with that engine is an SCT tuner with a set of performance cams, but that is some work to complete.
