I am considering purchasing a used Dakota 4x4. One is a 2002 with 89800 miles and the other is 2004 103000 miles both are similar in equipment SLT quad cabs. Is there any differences between the two model years. Which model year had the least amount of problems. Thank you for your help.

 

Well, I have an 04. Problems happen to anyone. These private sales? Maint. records are key. I keep a journal of mine. Maint and issues are logged with date/mileage. At those mileages, I would say ask about whats been done, but if there is no record, plan on a few bucks for safe measures.

 

i have a 04 and parts are a little more expensive then the other years because alot of the parts are one year only and parts are a little harder to come by personally i wouldnt buy another 04

 

the 04's were just a tad different I think from the 01-03's. Personally I'd go with the lower miles 02. I think they changed the durango's in 2004 and the dakota just kinda had that last year in 04 before the model change.

 

yes where as in 01-03 the parts interchanged with the durangos but 04 durangos are a diffrent body style so that leaves just the 04 dakotas for parts

 

Go with lower miles
