Default Knocking noise....

I've been hearing this pinging noise for a little while now.while I was changing the oil I went a head and looked around, I noticed the fan is a little loose. I can grab it and move it. So I'm thinking maybe that's the noise I was hearing, motor still runs fine, no lights. Still strong. But the thing is, u can hear the noise on the left front of the motor and not the other side. So question is, if it was the fan, wouldn't the noise be heard from either side? And how do I replace the fan....4.7

Where at in Texas are you (PM)
When you moved the fan was it the fan blads or the assembly? Remember these trucks have fan clutches that means the fan will turn freely. untill it engages..

pining noise... does it sound like metal hitting metal kind of ping,.. or more of a tick sound? injectors make that noise and every last one of my injects sounds like that..

Anything special your doing that makes the sound as in: only when you XXX? Drive, reverse, turn.. those kind of details.. where does the sound come from?

Could be your tappets clicking. They seem to do that on these trucks...

As for the fan being "loose", are you losing any coolant? Got any spray on the underside of your hood, or dripping from under the car?

If the fan wobbles like that, it might be the water pump. How many miles on your car?

No the blades don't move, the whole assembly moves. And it doesn't run hot, not leakin oil....and it sounds like a tappin, not metal on metal....but it's only left side(passenger) and it just started. Why would the injectors do that? Doesit mean there bad? Oh and it makes the noise at all time...idle ordriving, have exhaust done so can't hear it whiledriving. That's the only performance I've done

And after thinking about it, a few months back it wanted to overheat twice. Just let it cool down and it did fine and has since...

That's the bearing on the water pump. Unfortunately, it's not serviceable. You'll need to replace the entire pump...
