Default Picked up a second gen

Been awhile since I had a mopar but finally stumbled upon one for a good price. I call it the poor man's R/T lol It's a 97 base model std cab long bed 5.2 5 speed 2WD. It has 250k miles on the clock but the thing pulls strong and there's nothing crazy going on when I drive it. Hell it doesn't even smoke.

The guy I got it off of didn't really have that much info but told me about some of the work that he did along with a clutch upgrade. nothing too major. The P/O before him is the one who did all the other crap and from what I can see, it's got an intake, clear corner tail lights that don't look bad, thermostat, some kind of bullet muffer/glasspack/resonator that sounds sick. It's also got a hurt shifter lol that's why it's the poor man's R/T. It is clean, that I can say. It's also pretty fun

Need to get some pics but I did snap this.(attached file) Oh, and wtf decided to put the ash tray on the right side of the shifter? bah!

haha nice and welcome! I've always wanted to do a pistol grip like that but to make it comfortable the way I would want I would have to make a new shaft, so for now the t-handle on the hurst shaft will have to do. is that a real hurst short shift or just a pistol grip handle? it looks like the shaft is neither but its hard to tell

well i couldnt tell ya. does it look like the shaft off any other mopar tranny? i just thought it was just the ****. its not really fully functional with the arm rest but if you put it up, you have no problem grabbing it like a pistol. not really a big deal... I just hold it like a regular shifter.once i get money which is never I need to black out the rear window and get a newer usb head unit... or at least a stack of cdrs for now.

Just finished installing the new trans and clutch on my 97 2wd 5.2 5sp this morning. 270k miles and she still had the stock clutch. Don't abuse that trans too much, they seem to have a history of tearing up at the mainshaft when abused and they are not easy to find or cheap either.
