Default Power Steering VERY difficult to turn!!

2004 Quad Cab / 2wd auto 4.7ltr v8

Ok...Steering very tough to turn....both to turn and back to straight! Read about lower steering arm/link problems and sometimes steering pump getting clogged.

Took to dealer. Dealer suck fluid out and clean multiple times and verified PS pump fine. working and no clogs and R&P fine.

They THINK that maybe a knuckle or steering joint is stiffening up. This makes sense as I dont hear nor thing there is ANY strain on the PS at all. I think its the actually link from the pump to the wheel. Dealer says it has grease all in it and all looks totally fine. so with that they could not diagnose it and said to keep driving it...till something goes bad?! But its Horrible and in some instances dangerous. Anyone every experience this. never been in accident and sometimes its ok but 99% of the time its just so damn stiff to turn. at any speed at any time...like opening a water valve thats been closed for 50 years!! its god awful but dealer does not know what it might be and is hoping something developments.

If I was gonna throw money at the problem what would you guy suggest?
From others it seems that lower intermediate shaft stiffens up. Anyone got a good idea of how to replace? or any tricks to it. I think I found the part out there...now need to replace the sucker.

Well, I know from my experience, and lack of fixing...my lower connector/intermediate shaft, where a sort of U joint is, got very stiff 2 years ago....WD40 galore, once in a while cleared it up. It was recommended to replace it and some people had actually done a few(due to dealer 'diagnostics') steps, steering system replacement included and wasted a lot of money. I would WD it first. Wheel hard right, just above the frame rail. Then see what it does...
