Sometimes you can get a better price if you go in. IMO I wouldn't skimp on the pump, after you do the repair you will see why. I would do it yourself if you have some basic tools. It is a little time consuming but not terrible.

If it is bleeding down I would say pump is a good bet. The only other thing is a leak in the system or fuel injectors, but I would still bet my money on the pump first.

I checked those sites mentioned and it appears as though the fuel pump price in the U.S is much cheaper than the Canadian prices. The only caution I had from my mechanic was to make sure it is for a 24gallon tank. The pumps here for a 22gallon tank are around $200 but jump the $500+ for the 24 gallon. I will be in davenport FL in about a week and I am going to check out a couple local auto parts stores around there for pricing. I believe I will tackle it myself (weather permitting). Between a cheaper pump from the U.S and doing it myself, it wont be such a costly fix.
Thanks for the help, if anyone knows of a good auto parts store around the clermont/davenport florida area, let me know.

FYI, the starting problem is caused by the fuel pressure regulator. It is not holding the pressure, the unfortunate part is that it is built into the pump and it must be replaced as a unit. As the others have said......

The common chain stores here in central FL. are Advance Auto, AutoZone, CarQuest and of course NAPA. I think CarQuest has a store in Winter Haven and Leesburg, the others should be on nearly every street corner.

Try buying the pump from the Advance web site, do an online purchase and use one of their online discount codes:

BIG5 - $5 off $15 or more
A123 - $20 off $50 or more
BIG30 - $30 off $75 or more
BIG40 - $40 off $100 or more
BIG50 - $50 off $200 or more
P20 - 20% off all orders
VISA - $50 off $150 or more

The "Visa" discount will probably be the best one to use. I used "Big35" and did 2 separate transactions and saved $35.00 each when I bought my new front wheel bearing/hubs from Advance about a month ago. The Advance web site can be slow but they do accept Paypal and I have had no trouble paying online and picking up parts myself at the store.

If you don't want to buy from Advance there is a little Napa store in Clermont at the edge of town on your left as you head west out of Clermont on Highway 50. See Earl or Cheryl, they try real hard to help you out, it's not like some Napa stores I have been where they treat you like a second class citizen if you are not a commercial account. Your pump may cost more at Napa though and some of their parts nowadays are the exact same part you can buy from Auto Zone and Advance. So it's best to comparison shop before you buy.

The new Autozone store at the other end of town as you go east on Highway 50 is pretty good too. They have some good guys working there. Your best bet for a good discount is Advance though, unless Napa or Autozone will price match the Advance online discount. The fuel pump for my Dakota was about $230.00, I used an online discount code at Advance and paid $180.00 when I replaced my fuel pump last year.

The closest Carquest is in Leesburg and there is one in Wildwood, they are both pretty good but further away from here. We used to have a Carquest here where I live near Clermont, it was a good store, a small mom and pop operation, but they went out of business last year. There's another huge Napa and a Carquest further east on Highway 50 in Oakland, they are both pretty good too, but also further away.
