I have been told by the prior owner that there was a trouble code bc of the gas cap. He said he put a new one on there but the CEL has came on again and i can smell fuel quite frequently after the truck has been running. Have any ideas as to how to remedy this? I have not seen any fuel leaks and the cap is pretty new and seems to seal correctly.

 

Check around the fuel rail.

 

I checked around the fuel rail and i dont see any visible leaks. It's hard to pin point the smell exactly. It is raw fuel though.

 

my gas smell came from a evap line. the hard plastic one under the hood on the drivers side near the brake resivoir. the rubber hose was cracked where it met up with the plastic hose.

 

Check the fuel filler neck. Mine has a hole in it and I can get a smell of gas every so often
