sensor on top of my rearend?

Default sensor on top of my rearend?

there is a sensor on top of my rearend. what is it? im lookin into doin a sas this summer and i wanna go with a set of dodge 1500 axles. does a 1500 have this same set up so i could just plug in to the new rearend? thanks guys

It's a speed sensor and I'm not sure if a 1500's axle has the same connection. I'm guessing if they're close in year they may, but honestly I don't know. I don't know a lot about 1500 Rams since I don't have one...

well i really dont wanna just put a 1500 front axle and not a rear one lol maybe some one els will chime in and give some good info

Just taking a stab. ABS. They do it there I assume, instead of on the wheel, might as well do it with the ring gear.

nah my truck dont have abs. i remember readin up here one time that the sensor works in correlation with the iac motor or somthin like that.

I know for a fact that the sensor is a speed sensor and ABS sensor(but just speed sensor if you don't have ABS). A lot of dakotas have just rear ABS like mine. So it's a speed/ABS sensor.

i would ask in the ram section, they should know. Also i just bought a new sensor for mine, does anyone know of an easy way to get the old one out?

i posted on there site and there helpn pretty good. but one guy seams to think the dak rear and ram rears are the same width..?
