Well the first character of the VIN is a 1 which means to was built in the US. The 11th digit on mine is a S which means it was built in Dodge City, which it looks as if most of all the Dakotas were built in Dodge City.I know that Ford had there paint problems in the 80's and the 90's.Chevy had there paint issues in the 90's and 2000 years.Dodge had paint issues off and on threw 2007.The 1989 Dodge Power Ram I had was Red and had a White center section, when I sold that truck in Feb. it had the original red paint and the White I had repainted because it was peeling off.But that truck was 22 years old and only had 58000 miles, and it sat outside in the weather.I have tried to wax both of these but it is really to late on the Dakota.I was just hoping that someone else had luck just having the truck re-cleared.
