Unhappy would not go into park?

so here is the scoop. we got 2+ inches of snow followed by rain , sleet, hail, snow, thunder snow, and more of that crap for several hours. so i decided to leave work early to get home in time for dinner. on a good day it takes me 1hr20min to get home, yesterday it took me almost 3hrs. my windshield got full of ice and so did my headlights and taillights, so i pulled into a gas station to clean them off and wouldnt ya know it, my truck would not go into park. wtf? i have an awd truck but i did put it into 4wd 4-5 times before i stopped, so i tried to go forward and back to see if it was stuck in between the awd and 4wd or something. no luck there! the shift lever itself had a hard time moving too. luckily a man was nice enough to hold the brake for me while i cleaned off the ice. do yall think that slush froze onto my linkage, do i even have linkage or is it all electronic? or is there a bigger problem on the horizon? fyi, it worked fine when i left my shop, and it worked fine when i got home. works just dandy right now too. in 210000 miles i have never had this problem and have drivin in the same or worse conditions. this is buggin the sh!+ out of me.
thanks folks

do you have electronic shift or manual shift lever for the transfer case?
my buddy has a ram 2500, and sometimes his wont go into park all the way. you will throw the shift lever up and it will go into place, but on the dash board it will not show if the shifter is either in park or reverse, like there will be no box for the gear selection on the display if that makes sense. the truck will seem like its in neutral until you push the gear selector up even harder and it goes into park. but like with yours, it doesnt do it all the time.

and i dont mean this in a smart-*** way at all, but couldnt you put the truck in neutral and set the e-brake while you were outside? or would the truck not go into neutral properly? again i dont mean that in a smart-*** way i am just asking

my p brake doesnt work. i did put it neutral when i got out and cleaned off the ice. the weird thing is that when the lever was all the way in park(as it felt like it at least) the light circle around the gear indicator didnt show it to be in park. it didnt show it to be in any gear, if i pushed down on the lever a little bit it would light up the [r].
