Default funky fuel gauge

ok so i own a 1997 5.2l 5 speed club cab dakota and lately i have been having issues with the fuel gauge. today it works fine then tomorrow it will rain or ill go threw a puddle and it will just drop out and gas like comes on and dask dings. the connection has been taken off and has connection grease put in it and checked for cracks and all is good. the sending unit its brand new from mopar. it has about 3000 miles on it maybe. and the grounds are clean. i cant figure it out.

It's a weakness - mine does it too, though every time so far I've been able to reset it by cycling the ignition switch. No further investigation on my end until this "fix" no longer works... Going diesel soon - on second thought, maybe I'll look into it while I've got it all apart. I'd be interested in knowing what you find and if I find anything I'll follow up.

the same thing i have done for a year now to fix it but idk if it the cluster getting ready to **** out or the wiring on the frame on in the cab idk. and last night it did it and reminded me to post and see what i could find. but i do know it seems to be mostly when its wet out or damp out
