missing EGR Valve?

missing EGR Valve?
vehicle- 97 dodge dakota 5.2l 4x4 auto
I can't seem to find the EGR valve on my 97 5.2l engine. I looked behind the engine and see nothing and when I did my manifold gasket I don't remember seeing it at all. Does the 97 Dakota have a EGR valve? I'm not unfamiliar with the EGR since I replaced the one on my 93 Dakota so maybe I don't have one.
Also, how come my 97 Dakota doesn't have a fuel filter?

there is no ERG on your 1997s mine doesnt have one either. thats why you can remove the cat and not get a MIL. they slipped threw some how. and btw the fuel filter and pressure regulator are on top of the sending unit where gas line connects there is a silver canister that looks like a mini soda can thats the actually filter. cant replace it without the sending unit.

hmm.. What's funny is advanceauto, rockauto, and autozone showed a EGR valve available for the 97 Dakota.
