I have a 2004 Dakota 4x4 and im in the process of changing upper and lower ball joints. I have the upper out already and the knuckle is off. What Im having trouble with is getting the lower ball joint out, Ive already rented the ball joint press from advance but i cant get the ball joint out even with the press, what should I do? Would heating it up first help, Ive already drenched it with PB Blaster and still no luck? Any help would be great. The Chilton book just tells me to replace the whole control arm but thats craziness.

 

Heat it up it will help had to use heat when i replaced the one on my 02 qc i no longer have.

 

Got a heavy hammer and heat should work.

 

ok thanks i was reading a couple other post and read some people put the press on then hit it with a hammer, i think im gona try that with the heat and see how it works, ill let ya know tmrw how it works.

This guy grinded the flared shell to get it out.
