Hello,
My AC has always been cold and I've recharged it before. However, the volume of cold AC being pushed out has always been weak. I bought the truck used and it's been great, this has just been a minor irritation that I've finally had time to dig into. It's a 2001 4.7L V8 Quad-cab. Pics are attached; sorry, I could only upload 5 but the rest are here: http://imageshack.us/g/13/20110607215931.jpg/
My first guess was the blower motor or a fuse/relay. The blower motor doesn't spin until I get to the 2nd notch on the **** (some might say 1st setting when turning clockwise). Each notch after that gradually increases the blower speed. The resistor block seemed good the last time I tested it (couple years ago). I tore further into the dashboard though and found a door/flap laying on top of the blower motor.
The door had obviously broke and was blocking the blower motor input. The door has a broken hinge/peg which used to go to an electrical connection. Right now I just have a c-clamp holding this door up and out of the way so that the blower motor can push air (feels so much better!). Anybody know what this door/flap is? Is it the "blend door?" Is the electrical connector/servo/relay/whatever connected to the door the "door actuator?"
Also, while I was digging I figured I'd replace quick/cheap stuff (assuming its cheap). I can't figure out what the white round piece is. I also noticed a hole that appears to have had a hose glued onto it. Should there be a hose there or am I just ignorant?
I've checked the service manual (thanks poster "lil"--and DF). I also have the Haynes manual. I'm still having trouble distinguishing what these parts are--even after Googling part numbers. If anyone can shed some light, I'd be very grateful!
Thanks,
Nick
