Hi Everyone, I got a 1999 Dakota sport Pickup, wanting to do a trans tune-up, cant find the body style plate to find what trans I have 42RE 44RE 46RE so I know what specs for band adjustment. anyone have any info that would be great. truck info: 1999 dakota sport 3.9 v-6 automatic w/air 4X4

You can email Dodge and get the VIN breakdown. With a 3.9 V6 you have a 42RE.44RE is for 5.2 V8's. 46RE is for 5.9 V8's.

Also 99 is a 2nd Generation Dakota. I will move it over there.

 

you can email dodge your vin number and they can send you your build sheet showing what tranny you have or look in your glove box and it should also show what trans you have there

 

Mine was riveted under the carpet, passenger floorboards or under the seat.
