Question for those using dual post batteries:

I want to take my amplifier (#8) and fog light (#14) connections off the main post, and move them to the side post on my battery. Usually, side posts have a terminal insulator just like the top post. Since I won't have a big 1 gauge wire going to the side post, what would be the most efficient way to insulate the post?

I had a 85 Cherokee where I wired stuff off the side post. The main engine stuff was on the top post, the auxiliary stuff ran from the side post I used an ABS plastic pipe cap with a hole drilled in the bottom and a notch cut along the side to allow the wires to run straight.

HTH.

how did you get it to stay on? I was thinking of using a spray can top, but same idea, cut a 1/2" hole in the center and notch the side for wires. Did the wires keep it in place, did you epoxy it, or ??

Magnethead,
I used the ABS end cap a whopping .69 cents!,I just ran the bolt thru the ring terminals.Tightening the 3/8ths bolt held it all in place. I was careful to measure the depth of the bolt . Epoxy melts at 130*(deg)

so you just used a standard 3/8's bolt, not a proper terminal?

So the cap was between the rings and the battery casing itself, and open to the side?
