Default Transmisison help needed P0733

Hi I am hoping someone can help me figure this out. I have a 2000 Quad Cab dakota 2wd 4.7L. Last week it went into limp mode with MIL code P0733. I have googled it and tried all the easy fixes, but still no good. When it should shift into 3rd gear @ 30mph it just goes into a neutral like gear and revs up. If I drive it in 2nd gear I can get up to about 45mph or so. When it went into limp mode I also partially lost my speedometer. It will not register until I hit about 20mph, and then it looks like the speedo needle is sticking. First thing I did was a full transmission flush and changed both filters. I did it myself and the fluid was clean, no metal shavings and no broken pieces at all. I also removed the valve body (I think that's what it's called) and opened up the solenoid pack and cleaned the screen. I didn't notice anything bent or broken, but I've never messed with a transmission before so I didn't know what I was looking for. I took out what looked like pistons and checked all of their O-rings, and all were fine. I did use ATF+4 as the manual said. I replaced the output speed sensor, which didn't make any difference. Since the new output sensor didn't make a difference I took the old one and replaced the input sensor with that one (I was told they were the same sensor). Still no good. My abs light and my E-brake light have both been on for a while now, longer than the tranny has been acting up. I am wondering if the differential mounted VSS has anything to do with it. I had an 01 grand cherokee a few yrs ago and I had to take the entire dash out to fix the heater. I remember starting the engine without the gauges plugged in and it basically redlined. I guess the engine couldn't figure out what to do without the tach reading. I am wondering if the transmission might act the same way. If the rear speed sensor isn't reading the speed accurately would it cause the tranny to go into limp mode? I know I should just take it to a dealer or a shop, but being a younger girl I'm sure they will try to tell me the tranny is shot and give me a ridiculous quote, which I don't agree with. Anyone have any transmission knowledge? Thanks
